The Rewards...

There are five reasons to ride, all have their own rewards:

One - Ride 542 to help raise funds and awareness for local cancer care, research and treatment. Cancer will affect 50% of us in one-way or another. Ride 542 for yourself. Ride 542 to inspire someone you love. Ride 542 for those that are fighting the battle.  Ride 542 for those that lost the battle. A majority percentage of merchandises proceeds will go to local cancer center through the Ken Meyer Memorial Foundation.

Two - Ride 542 for the rewards.   For the competitive riders...there's cash, prizes and the "Threshold Challenge" GREEN REWARD on the line.   No one has won the "Threshold Challenge" in four years of the event.   For the first woman to break and win in under 1:30 and 1:20 for men...there's a big cash bonus.   $4000 split for 2007.   For recreational riders there's lots prizes and bragging rights. Ride 542 to beat your (or your buddies) time from last year.   Take 5 minutes off your old time.   Break the 2 hour barrier.   Win your age group.   Ride 542 to just get to the top for the banana and some energy gel.

Three - Ride 542 because the road is about as amazing as you could possibly imagine.   Perfect pavement, no cars, big trees, blue rivers, snowy mountains and a ride attitude that will make you smile.   The town of Glacier will welcome you with it's charm, it warmth and it's scenery.

Four - Ride 542 up because you'll earn the ride down.   The one-hour ride back to Glacier will give you as much pleasure (and a lot less pain) as the ride up.   The first 10 miles you don't even have to pedal!   The road is open to all motorists and all riders MUST obey the rules of the road. Please ride within your limits. Most riders choose to ride back to Glacier from the top.   But plan ahead, as in 2004 the weather was incredibly bad and riders were carpooling down the hill, warming up in the ski area lodges furnace room and slurping down hot coffee.   The ride down can be cold and slippery - USE CAUTION and dress warmer than you think!!!

Five - To help make our planet GREEN!! RIDE 542 has partnered with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (www.B-E-F.org) to offset this events carbon useage and to make an investment into susstainable green energy development. Challenge any event that you participate in to do the same...it's easy and important.
